    Need help on Acronyms and Abbreviations

     

    Have I got any of these wrong if so please let me know, or have I missed anything obvious as this is intended to help beginners as well as the seasoned property professionals I will place these on my web site when it arrives in order to help everyone.

    Abbreviations used in the property business

    APR          =        Annual Percentage Rate

    ARLA        =        Association of Residential Letting Agents

    ASA           =        Advertising Standards Authority

    AST           =        Assured Shorthold Tenancy (agreement)

    AT              =        Assured Tenancy (agreement)

     

    B C            =        Borough Council 

    BI               =        Buildings Insurance

    BMV          =        Below Market Value

    BOE          =        Bank Of England

    BTL           =        Buy To Let

    BTS           =        Buy To Sell

    BS             =        Building Society

     

    CAGR       =        Compound Annual Growth Rate

    CC             =        County Council

    CCJ          =        County Court Judgement

    CGT                Capital Gains Tax, a tax on the profits on a sale (currently 40% normally)

    CH             =        Central Heating

    COCR       =        Cash On Cash Return.

    CPO          =        Compulsory Purchase Order

    CT             =        Council Tax

     

    DG            =        Double Glazing

    DPC         =        Damp Proof Course

    DPM         =        Damp Proof Membrane

    DSCR      =        Dept Service Coverage Ratio.

    or here            http://www.acronymfinder.com however they will be for all walks of life and you could be given 20 or even 50 different meanings for the same set of letters depending on the context or particular circumstances it belongs to.

    IRR in the context of assesing the feasibility of a project is Internal rate of return. Not internal rate retention...... unless that is something else ??

    I looked for a definition of "emitions" used in the E&E acronym - there is no such word. 

    Are you trying to say E&OE which means errors and omissions excepted.  (Yes, I do mean excepted and not accepted for those who erroneously interchange the meanings of these two distinct words.)

    Thanks Loz. this is a very helpful list! I used it when Lisa used an abbreviation which I had no idea what it meant, in one of her replies to me!
