Hi There! First of all, very best of luck with the Haulage business
I am not sure this is a great time for hauliers, leases on vehicles will be expensive, fuel costs are high, and everyone will expect a competitive price. However, it is not all doom and gloom, there are many hauliers out there who are still turning in good money.
I own a significant share in a company very well respected and known in the transport and haulage industry. I can put you in touch with a gentleman who has been in the game for about 30 years, working for some of the big names. Ideally, a little background from you would be good. What areas of the industry will you like to target (think Dangerous goods, waste etc) as some carry special requirements (for example, Dangerous Goods will in most cases require drivers to hold ADR certificates etc).
Will you buy / lease the vehicles? What vehicles will you need, will you supply just drivers, drivers and tractor units, whole vehicles (trailers included), smaller 7.5 tonne vehicles, with loaders etc?
I can be reached on email if you don't want to put the full detail in the forum, my email address is paul.r.williams @ hotmail . co . uk (obviously remove the spaces, this is a little measure to try and stop spiders picking up my email address for spam purposes!)
Regards
Paul
