    Outdoor media for £500!

In Birmingham, and soon to be in a couple of other cities, there is a company www.signposter.com that you can use to advertise on billiboards, phone boxes and buses for a couple of hundred quid for two weeks.

Does anyone have any stats on how well outdoor media works for different products/services or has any experience using them?

     Thanks

    Tex

    Hi Tex,

Nice find with that company, To be honest ive never advertised on a bilboard myself BUT it does look interesting for the right sort of market.

When i first started i have designed and put up A4 boards around the local area, didnt get anything back but i realized i was trying to capture the wrong audience (web design) so i realized that was wasted. But with this for someone who has a estate agent, shop, meeting people company, mobile phone shop, etc. i can see this working really well. If i sore a different style art on a board advertising a bsuiness i would seriously look into that company.

If i had another busines that i could see this work ....BY DAMN I WOULD DO IT! for just 500 pound.

    Hope that helps Tex

    Hi Guys

I have used billboard advertising of my own for a few years and have found it effective in many areas, very eye catching

I am just about to start selling the advertising space in Liverpool and Lancashire and Greater manchester areas

Much as the company named in the 1st post, My signboards are placed in main road positions attracting 1000's of constant views each day

    The price for a board sized 20' x 8' will be £400 / £500 per month plus a one off poster/design cost (approx £200)

I have my own BMV business posters up and they look great, Wish I could upload one to you to look at.

New website coming very soon, so guess it will have to wait until then

    Hi Julian

Glad to hear its working out well for you.

Im guessing with your BMV business its quite simple to measure the results by asking the customer where they got your details from, am I correct?

Do you have any ideas on measuring results for sales of a product?

Jonanthon, it does sound good doesn't it? That price is only for a two week period though at one site so for a decent campaign it would work out to be a bit more.

    Re: Outdoor media for £500!

It can be difficult to measure correctly how many customers see the ads in real time. The closest I can see for any company to measure the potential is by either counting the cars pass, or by buying the information from local councils who do such counts as part of their own traffic management counts ie 10,000 cars go past a sign on a weekday (Just .5% response would be nice)

Also, looking at the data such as site visits during a campaign time can be valuable. I notice an upturn when adverts are going ahead. The trick is converting these to business

I have also noticed that a single board can produce a decent number of replies for a business on a shoe string (of sorts) as a sign can target a particular audience without paying for an advert in a paper for instance that goes for a wider group

My prices are for a 4 week period, with discounts for longer terms
