Its good to see your business is developing.  I bought Pauls manual some time back it and it opened my eyes this type of finance. 

Last weekend I bought a magazine called the Investors Chronicle.  Not my usual choice of light entertainment but an article on the cover caught my eye.  It was about shares to beat the credit crunch.  It listed seventeen shares and had a write up on several of its choices.

Provident Financial and two pawn brokers made it into the list.  Provident for those reading who dont know them, are the largest provider of doorstep loans in the UK.  I was also interested in the pawn brokers as I am looking at Cash Conveters and Cash Generator franchises which include this service.  What's interesting is they all provide short term cash quickly and are seen as growth markets in a recession / credit crunch.

Provident also seem to be expanding on the demographic groups they are targetting.  In the last two months my wife has recieved two mailshots from Provident.  Im not sure what lists they are using but its definately a move away from their normal customer.  Direct mail is also very expensive so it would suggest to me that this aggressive and expensive method must be cost effective for them.

Also in my research of Cash Generator I met with the directors and they told me they are also seeing a change in customer as the economy weakens.  They are now getting more customers higher up the demographics for products like pay day loans.

Indeed it seems I'm VERY slowly but surely seeing a different class of client. More workers/homeowners are coming through than before.

I wonder if any other Home Credit operators are seeing this?
