Is it worthwhile taking up the current offer from Bradford & Bingley of a rights offer of 40 pc of the shares I already own, keeping my percentage of the company the same, are they likely to drop again, does it look like they are getting into trouble?

Please keep it simple, I'm only a man! 

16% drop in share prices on the day the issue was announced...

after the CEO had said there would be no rights issue...

lots of invstors calling for a board change....

having said that, if you are investing for the long term, a 48% discount on Tuesday's price sounds like good value if you have the confidence that they won't go the same way as Northern Rock.

forgot to say....if I had shares, I would take up the offer.

Thanks Bill, I didn't know they had dropped again tho'. I have to say though that if the shares were a horse I would have shot it last year, still win some, lose some.

I would also take them up Bill although i don't have any,assuming you have a reasonably diversified portfolio and not just one company/sector,3-5 year hold though IMO
