    Clickbank help required

Theres a couple of programmes on clickbank I may be interested in promoting. According to clickbank they deposit a 60 day top tier cookie for future tracking

    However

These programmes offer a free trial via email sign up.Thereafter, customers would probably buy via the url in the trial. Will my hoplink still be tracked and referal awarded to me ?

    Hi

Normally you'd still get the credit. As far as I'm aware, Clickbank operate on a "last person who recommended" gets the sale. So providing you were the last person to send the referral, all should work OK. The list owner is unlikely to set a cookie for themselves in any follow up email. Longer term, that would work to their detriment as most affiliates have at least a rough idea of whether their efforts are making them any money (especially those who use pay per click ads).

That said, there are some issues with Clickbank cookies not being set if the user has run some of the anti spyware programs. Some of these treat Clickbank, Commission Junction and other networks as spies. Pain in the neck but just something to be aware of.

Definitive answer: the best way to find out what's happening is to sign up to the email course on your own Clickbank link and see where the link takes you. If you're still flagged as affiliate (and haven't reclicked your Clickbank link in the meantime) then all is working as it should.

    Hi Budgetflyer

I posed the problem about the free trial sign ups to click bank myself a while ago.  they basically said that as long as the person signs up within 60 days of clicking through your affiliate link you will get the commission.  It doesn't matter that they may subsequently get the site via a different url within those 60 days, it will still register to you.

The obvious exception to this is if they buy the product using a totally different computer than the one they originally clicked through using your affiliate link.

    Thanks Big Ears

I suppose as Trev says, you are only unlikely therefore to lose the commission if  the buyer dallies about after the free trial more than 60 days, or clears their cookies.

I suppose its really just a numbers game. The more free sign ups increases the no of sales.
