    Ebay as a business

    Hi guys

Calling all seasoned ebayers out there....

Bit of an open ended question here, but was just wondering if anyone out there can give me a feel for how much money can realistically be made via selling on EBAY?

Just wondering how much work it would take to build up an ebay based business bringing in say £300 pw and how many hrs pw it would take to maintain this

Obviously it depends a lot on what product you sell, but i'd just like to know if there are people out there actually making good money?

    Thanks

    Faz

    RE: Ebay as a business

    Hi
A friend of mine buys and sells Starwars collections. He makes good money usually - e.g. sells a collection for £800 and makes around £300 profit. He's a bit of a lazy *** though and only does it when he feels like it!!

    RE: Ebay as a business

I am not ebayer but an ebay buyer.

I have certainly bought many stuffs from people to run full time ebay business.

I am a keen photographer and I was in contact with someone who imports lens from US and sells at ebay. He pockets £100 profit for one particular lens and he told me he sold 4 last week.

    RE: Ebay as a business

I've sold quite a lot on ebay and it really does depend on what you're selling as to how well you'll do.

I would not suggest selling anything under £4.99 in value as it really isn't worth the time or hassle, plus you have to add in the listing fees, paypal fees (if you want to be paid quickly) and you'll realise for that £4.99 sale you'll probably only see £4.20 of it.

The only people really making a business out of ebay are ebay themselves!

    RE: Ebay as a business

I know people who are addicted to ebay and buy stuff constantly on there. I reckon ebay is partly responsible for my neighbour's marriage breakdown. He couldn't sleep for worrying about bids, used sniper software to sneak in bids at the last minute be it at midnight or 3am in the morning and he would travel the country buying other people's junk. And I have friends who make good additional income from selling selling what looks to me like a loada junk but which, clearly, lots of people think are worth buying. The latter do rather well from it.

    RE: Ebay as a business

I know people (person) that makes good money on ebay. A lot more than £300 per week as well. It's all down to your product and how much people want it the same as any business.

I run an online business, unfortunately my products are not suited to ebay but I wish they were, you save a fortune on advertising, internet hosting fees etc etc etc.

If I could have my time again ebay is the way I would go. Get yourself a product buy some from the shops put them on ebay at the same price slightly less, if they sell then source a cheaper way of getting those products in bulk. If not get another product and try that.

What products have you seen go well Jamie?

I must admit I haven't really made much money from it, given the hassle I've had (10% of people don't pay).

I see people on there with 50000 items on sale - how much must they pay per listing for that? (Power Sellers)

    RE: Ebay as a business

i find that people seem to buy almost anything on ebay. i've gotten rid of so much junk.
i once sold a pair of worn imitation nike air trainers. i got £43 pounds for them and they were in quite shabby condition.
the most time consuming part is the quing up at the post office with 12 parcels to send via recorded delivery.
