    Advice on Repossession in Spain

    Hello Fellow Members,

I haven't posted anything for a while.  I've been trying find my way out of this predicament I've go myself into.  I can't sell or rent my apartment and I don't have any further funds to plough into this bottom less pit.

I want to give my apartment to the bank and let them reposses it, but I'm not sure of the implications and whether they can come after me in the UK.  I'm beyond caring whether I make a loss or not.........Crikey!.....enough is enough. I just want rid of the headaches and sleepless nights.

I can't believe anything anyone says to me over there, so it's pointless me talking to the lawyers and estate agents.  If it wasn't for their bad advice I would have got rid of it a couple years ago and would least a bit of my in the bank now.

I've got an insurance policy that covers part of the mortgage in case I can't pay, but it is all written in Spanish  and I'm not sure of the small print, I probably need to be out of work or something like that.  Fortunately, I'm working and I've still got my UK home and I'd like to keep it that way. Also, mysteriously the details about this has disappeared from my on-line bank details and I'm not sure if this a genuine mistake or whether I'm being stitched up again.

Anyway, does anyone have any experience of Spainish banks persuing people over here in the UK?  For instance, can they come after my UK home?

I'll wait to see what advice I get back if any and then I will let the bank know of my situation.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

    UA

Sorry, no can do on this occasion, Martin.  I'm talking in great personal detail with UA.

Please feel free to raise your own thread (and let me know by PM/email) if you have questions.  I can then answer them publicly for you.

    Cheers,
    Alan

    Hi

I am thinking in similar lines. What have you decided? Have you come to know any more useful info?

Re: Advice on Repossession in Spain

I am currently in a difficult situation. My apartment does not have 10yr warranty. It was completed in 2003 and the builder has not bothered. What it now means is that I cannot change my mortgage to interest only to a different bank or with my own bank. I am thinking of handing over the keys. Can you please help me with what may be the consequences in future if I handed over the keys. Situation is I am more than willing to pay the interest only mortgage but I am unable to change eventhough I have had a good offer.

    Hi

A bit late in replying - sorry. Where are you in Spain - if you are on Playa Golf then I may be able to offer a light at the end of the tunnel - let me know

If you are elsewhere then all I can say is best of luck and I hope that things work out for you

    All best wishes

    Nikki
