In the words of lots of ads, you don't need your own web site (but it does help to have one!)
You could start with a blog. That's essentially a free website. If you trust Google, then Blogger is worth a go.
If, on the other hand, you don't want your blog taken down at random for "suspected spam" or other spurious reasons, look at, say, Wordpress who offer free blogs and aren't as twitchy as Google/Blogger.
You could also place ads on sites like
USFreeAds. They're in the "OK" bracket. With the paid account, your ads repeat until cancelled, so they're quite easy to work with.
You can also write articles and submit these to the main article sites. Use the author bio to point them at your blog.
But longer term you'll want a domain and with the costs around $10 a
year, it's not exactly a stretch. Domains and hosting have been
discussed on this site at length, so go through some of the archives.
And remember to capture people's email addresses using an autoresponder service like AWeber. That way you get to market to people more than once, thus multiplying your efforts.
