    Re: your mind set?

Spot on lawless.. in laymans terms its all about getting events that need our concious mind transferred over to our subconcious mind (so they effectively run on auto-pilot). If anyone can think back to their first time in a car learning to drive, having to remember which pedal to press, where the gear-lever was, having to look in the mirror etc. Once you've got plenty of experience you carry out almost all of those functions automatically as they are programmed into the sub-concious mind. Although people probably wont admit to it, most drivers have at some time or another experienced an instance where they realise they haven't been concentrating at all for the past couple of minutes (as their mind is elsewhere) the sub-concious has been handling the driving!..scary..

So the theory is if you keep convincing yourself you're the best thing since sliced bread then eventually it ought to get into your sub-concious mind. Problem is we have a thing called doubt that often gets in the way.

Hypnotism uses these tricks. I remember Paul McKenna explaining it as "think of an instance where you can't find your car keys, yet you know you had them a minute ago..there's a type of disconnection in the brain and I put a suggestion into the void where your car keys should be!"

I understand what he means..but how do they do that?!!!  GB

NLP is indeed powerful, watch this clip where Derren Brown convinces an actor he wants a bike. Great stuff and a real wow moment - if it is not a set up.

    Re: your mind set?

the Derren Brown clip is great and i have been a big fan of him but  how much is really NLP? The NLP people will be claiming its all down to NLP with the use of Anchors (which actually go back way beyond NLP) and carefully constructed language patterns which also go back beyond Bandler and Grindler. What we really saw was an expert demo of covert hypnosis. However I suspect that the word Covert sounds dodgy to many people so its better called NLP. All Derren does is bypass the critical mind and gives instructions directly to the more powerful subconcious mind. Most of the time he uses words that sound like what you expect to hear but are actually embedded commands of what he really wants you to hear. Of course he is a genius at this method of talking.

There are courses on Covert hypnosis and Seduction on my websites

    Re: your mind set?

    Woooh,

Not sure I want to go as far as hypnosis and spoon bending Smile. I'm a huge fan of Darren Brown and he really is a master. Even when he tells people what he's about to do. most still cannot work out how or what he's just done. But the theory is sound, I use element of it myself as I begin my day. Or before I go into an important meeting with a new client. It's about creating inner belief, which projects outer belief, which is infects others around you.

Oh and here's the bad part, it works both ways. Inner doubt and fear projects out, which also infects others. So if you want to move someone to you. You must first move to them. Try it, the next person you meet, smile, say hello, even offer a hand shake. You'll be amazed.

Do something extraordinary today, you never know, somthing extraordinary may happen to you!

    Re: your mind set?

I agree with the comment on belief being important.  You can think things in your mind but if you don't believe that you can achieve these things then you won't carry out the correct actions that will carry you there.  I am sure that this true in all walks of life, attaining academic qualifications, success in your job, creating a work of art, sport achievements, recovery from illness etc.

WRT financial success some of these correct actions include learning how money works, 're-programming' your beliefs about money e.g. it is unpleasant, there is not enough of it, I have to tread on others in order to become wealthy, spending less on rubbish, buying assets, creating wealth, and so on.  The more I learn and do the more opportunities present themselves.  Being part of this forum is a good starting point for learning and also being exposed to new opportunities.
