Banned from Housepricecrash.co.uk for being a bull

I joined www.housepricecrash.co.uk  around 12 months ago, after seeing the recession change the way we all look at credit, mortgages and the housing market. I believed at the time that there would be a property crash.

I since feel differently, despite all the doomsayers on that forum, claiming that the world is on the edge of a massive property price correction and that its tin hat time, I now feel there is some optimism to be found in property for the serious investor/buyer.

Now is the time to make those cheeky offers and built a portfolio of properties as interest rates are low and sellers are desperate.

I changed my out look from being gloomy and depressed to being refreshed and looking to build a new future.

    I AM A PROPERTY BULL.

Because I did not follow the site mantra, I have been banned from that forum. So I have defected to the Singing Pip, where the glass seems definitly half full.

The glass is never half empty or half full.

The glass is just the wrong size.

Re: Banned from Housepricecrash.co.uk for being a bull

An investor in real estate does not focus that much on the overall market as much as they look at individual deals. The market is closer to the weather; the backdrop. The quality of the deal comes down to the details specific to the property and to the other party's situation. You can find great deals in bull or bear markets. What makes for a great deal will vary deal per deal for the most part.

The prior site you used is not all that useful in terms of having an honest debate. There is an agenda and everyone has to toe the line or they get banned. Decent will be met with aggressive behavior rather than being invited so blindness to the real conditions is an outcome.

If you like SP, great. There are other forums with similar discussions. PropertyTribes.ning.com is one. A number of people here on this site use that one also.

If you want to engage is a more general debate about the market where many of the people discussing the market have little to no background with investing in real estate (more owner occupants, renters, investors in other asset classes), the Motley Fool is a good site (www.fool.co.uk). Look for the forum called Property Market & Trends. The group has a bear focus but the debates are a bit more honest that HPC. There are a few who are really off their rocker so you can either read what they post of put them on 'ignore'. Note that you will not get a lot of practical real estate investing advice there as most are not investors.

Re: Banned from Housepricecrash.co.uk for being a bull

    no surprise there Mick!

i am both astonished and pleasantly surprised by HPC and the attitude that most have on there

the 'world owes me a living' types, as Trevor used in another post a very 'dog in the manger' attitude... i can't have so no-one else deserves it

it seems that many have effectively put their life on hold waiting for a HPC, sheer madness,  there are others that claim to have the money but WONT buy (how crazy is that)

i am pleased that there is this representative group as i feel that it does make up a significant amount of people countrywide that can only see the negative, i am also surprised that folk can have this kind of attitude and believe the heavily moderated views and opinions... birds of a feather i suppose

what i read into HPC is a group of people in late 20's to mid 40's mostly in IT or some other wizzo job who think:

i cannot afford what i want, why can't i have a  5 bed drum in the Country

i was told all my life that if i work hard the worlds my lobster, thst fact that you are likley to be in a 30k or year job for life did not enter into their head

others do better than me through luck

i am good at what i do why don't i earn enough money

why did i believe that if i got my head down and worked hard for other people i would have everything i wanted

sour grapes that others can make money in property

when told how to do it,  dismiss it as wrong although seeting inside at how simple it is if one opens ones mind

i am not prepared to put any effort in to finding property, it all should land in my lap, after all i work hard at my job like a good boy

i am not prepared to get on the hosuing ladder at the bottom rung... i DESERVE better

    its all everyone elses fault.

i truly belive that renting is better (NOT)

feel free to add your own.....

Rik, you shouldn't hold back - you need to let it out!

    Very funny and so true.

These are also the people that post the comments at the bottom of the news articles online!

Re: Banned from Housepricecrash.co.uk for being a bull

one needs a cathartic exprience once in a while

yes the news comments, i forgot about them

    they are just as bad.,....

i find the whole thing funny, i do regularly go in HPC to read it, some of the posts are just bonkers, in fact so off the wall that i just give up reading them

many of them will look back in ten years with their heads in their hands weeping at missed opportunity when it dawns on them that they could have bought 17 years ago and paid their mortgage off by now, during that time they have spunked in rent the value of a house and now have to lash out that same value AGAIN to get one, wishing that they had never heard of HPC

the owner off it, didn't he sell in 2002 to rent? Or was it 2001, and he is still banging on about a HPC..... at what point will he claim success of his action

Re: Banned from Housepricecrash.co.uk for being a bull

12 months ago, it made sense to be a Bull.  (I was too, looking for a bounce of maybe 9 months.)]

It makes no sense now, after the bounce

DrBubb - is an abbreviation of "Debt Bubble"- something which has distorted property markets for years, but bubbles dont last forever, as US real estate demonstrates, and so does the drop in the UK in 2007/08. After the Dead Cat bounce of 2009, worse is coming in the UK
