    Harlequin Property

    Hi

i have been offered an investment in the caribbean via an agent of HP and it seems like a great offer for the passive investor with finance in place etc.rental guarantees for 2 years and so on.

however i feel a little nervous about going ahead  , not just because of the financial implication but also the hassle factor if they start messing me around and delaying the construction etc.

does anyone here have recent dealings ?

    any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

    Euro

Hi, Guardian Link is not working.

Anyway, i have invested in the Buccament Bay project and so far have had no problems with harlequin. You can see update pics on their website and it is being built. It is being marketed on net for holiday bookings for when it opens next year. Have a look on expedia or oasis hotels.

    Re: Harlequin Property

The Guardian have now issued a full apology as of the 22nd December.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2009/dec/22/harlequin-property-david-ames-apology

Our article 'Island dream swept away in Caribbean bay of despair' (22 Nov, Cash) may have been understood to mean that Harlequin Property had duped investors, through the use of deceitful financial projections and misleading advertising, into parting with their money and that investors were unlikely to see a return on their investment. The article may also have been understood to suggest that Harlequin were in financial difficulty and that resorts may not be completed. We accept that there is no truth to these claims, which it was not our intention to make. We apologise to Harlequin and its Chairman David Ames.

Another article that hit The Daily Express last week might interest investors

    Re: Harlequin Property

"Recent comments concerning the suggestion that SIPP providers had "pulled the plug" on Harlequin's model have been removed as the claims are untrue.  We have been advised that all SIPP providers who have been investing in Harlequin properties continue to do so and that there is no suggestion from either the SIPP providers or the FSA that the business model is unsuitable for SIPP investment.

Singing Pig apologises for publishing these postings which may have misled readers into believing that pensions could not be used to purchase Harlequin's properties and for any alarm this may have caused to existing purchasers.   We have also been asked to point out that the reason that Harlequin's properties do not have kitchens is to ensure that they are suitable for SIPP investment, as residential use is not permitted for such investments."
