Hi all
Where do I start?
My name is Mark and as you probably guessed from my display name, I am an ex-Zimbabwean! My wife and I moved here about 8 years ago - we arrived with two backpacks and had originally planned to come here for 5 years, travel around, save some money and then go back to Zim to set ourselves up. Starting a family, buying a house in the UK and the situation in Zim has sort of changed the original plan somewhat!
Living in limbo for a while didn't do much for taking action on starting a business or long term investments, so I am now taking action! I have now bitten the bullet (or been bitten by the bug) and will start with BMV property. I found this site a bit by accident after reading RDPD, google searches leading to purchasing Andy Shaws "manual", found Singing Pig and am now half way through Mark T's Property Traders manual. Boy am I glad to have found this site and Mark's manual as it is in a totally different league to Andy Shaws book. Andy's book was inspiring from an introduction to the industry point of view, and what could be possible but apart from that, it is all "FIGJAM", I am great, subscribe to my website and I will show you the world, but in reality not tell you how to do anything. As for Mark's manual, there is no "fluff" and from the start he tells you how to do it, which more importantly, is how he does it. The last few months have really opened my eyes to so many possibilities and I hope that I have the gumption to act on them.
I work as a production manager in a scientific manufacturing environment and come from a mechanical engineering background so most of this is new to me and I have a steep learning curve ahead! I think that my project management skills will come in useful in getting myself organised and keeping to a plan. I have already learned heaps from all your posts and am sure that I have just scratched the surface - hopefully I will be able to provide some useful advice and experience as I go.
I am keen to meet other like-minded investors in the area if anyone is interested, and if there are any relevant events in the area, keep me posted.
I have lots of questions and if I can't find answers in previous posts, you will be hearing from me again shortly!
Health, wealth and happiness to all of you, not necessarily in that order!
Cheers
Mark R.
