Living in the E Midlands I don't know about Essex but I would suggest holding off for two or three years. In terms of the economy we're only just seeing the first effects of the credit crunch and price hikes. As these effects work through they will destroy many companies profits and we are going to see a big rise in unemployment. This will give a further push to to decline in house prices. Yes, there'll be a time to buy and it will be when there's so much doom and gloom on the news you think the world is about to end.
