    Cash Generator / Cash Converters

    Anyone had dealings with these two?

    Im investigating both and would welcome any opinions.  I have been to see 5 Cash Generators and their head office.  Converters are next.

    I think their business model will do well in the near future.

    Hi Subman

     odd that i used to own 2 subways too but i look at cash generator quite recently. an old friend of mine has owned the "store of the year" for the last 10 years and to be honest he turned me off the idea. he said something along the lines of;

     "there's a lot more to it than meets the eye, i've been in the business 10 years and still work 10 hours a day six days a week, in the first year you lose money, year two you break even, year three you turn a profit. there are stores in the uk making a fortune and stores in the uk losing a fortune"

    you're right though, i see them doing some good business in the next few years.

    let me know how you get on - i was going to go up to bolton but have put the idea on ice for the moment as i'll shortly be pursing something else.

    regards

    Re: Cash Generator / Cash Converters

    I can see how people could lose lots of money as there are lots of ways for employees to steal or divert money.  I have also seen a similar CG franchisee who works all the hours in order to make it run profitably.  What struck me about him was that he was the system for his business.  He had not set it up to run without him.  I didnt get too deep into his set up but I would guess he was also the main anti theft system.

    Subways a bit like that.  Single owner operator stores are normally very well run and profitable.  Multi unit as you know is a different game altogether.

    The three year cycle is probably the nom for this type of business as you have to build up customer debt to make money.  Cashflow in the early years is horendous.

    In set up its very similar in my opinion to Pals loans business.  On paper you can be making a good profit but there is no money there until you stop lending it back out.

     I will PM you my number if you dont mind having a chat

    Stuart
