Hi, its me again.

Just finishing off some research on a given area and I wanted to know how to I go about checking what the average wage in the area is.  This is so that I can work out the affordability for people in the area.

is there a governement or statistical website that I can go to that tells me this sort of info.  I have tried browsing the http://www.statistics.gov.uk and the http://www.communities.gov.uk site, but the sites are so big I get lost and I don't seem to be able t find this data. 

 
Does anyone have a link that they can post to get this kind of data, instead of me spending 5 hours trying to find it on these sorts of sites, when I am not even sure if the info is on there in the first place.

Any help would be greatfully received.

Sounds like you take your job seriously but have you thought of judging 'affordability' by finding out the actual rents being achieved in your target area.

If other similar properties are achieving a particular rent I personally would presume that the market forces have found their natural level...,

Big Ears I think what you want can be found @ www.neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/

Type the area or postcode in select 'ward' then 

People and Society: Income and Lifestyles

and then...

Income: Model-Based Estimates (2001 - 2002)

Some areas I have looked at do not have details on average income.

Also take into account that this information is from 01-02 & factor wage inflaton into the given figure.
