    Investing in Silver

    Hi,

I'm interested in investing in silver after hearing that it should do very well. Does anybody invest in silver or even gold and could give me a few pointers as to the best way of investing i.e buying and sotring, through an etf, invest in the mining companies? Is there anywhere where I can research on this online?

     Many thanks

    Rhys

    Hi Rhys,

    good name!! Big Smile

I started buying silver a few years ago, just a few ounces a month and then the odd gold coin when I could stretch to it.  I stopped about a year ago as the prices were rising and I wanted to reduce my 0% credit card hopping fund.  I now have a small pile that appears to have grown in value recently.  I didn't buy silver and gold to sell it again, I just wanted to build up a percentage of my wealth in precious metals.

Kitco at http://www.kitco.com/ is an obvious starting point for trading precious metals including futures.  There is also a forum.

Gold Exchange Traded Funds have only been going a few years and silver ETF less than 2 years.  The website Marketwatch http://www.marketwatch.com/funds/ has some up to date articles.

    regards Rhys

I did click here and get free information and ricing like I did a few months ago when it was lower. Re: Investing in Silver

Wow, just realised I'm replying to a really old post.

Anyway, it anyone is interested in recent Silver comments, I'd check out Mike Maloney's thoughts  at www.goldsilver.com.  Very interesting comments on etf's & pool funds not having the physical reserves to back up big redemptions.

Mike is in the UK next month with the Richdad team for a great event - check out www.rdeventreview.com

    Enjoy

    Re: Investing in Silver

I'm investing in gold through bullionvault.com

They also do silver without charging VAT as you don't take it out of the vault and I find it useful to lock in the value of the sterling.  That is my reason for investing in gold/silver..not interested in the physical gold although it's always useful to have gold coins.
