Roulette in casino's ball jumps out of wheel

Has anyone seen this before.  I was at casino last week had £5 on zero and it came in.  I collected the winnings and left the £5 on zero and somebody else put £25 on zero and £25 on 11. So £55 on table, £30 on zero.  The wheel was spun, ball rolled around.  The wheel was slowing down and ball going really slow. It looked as if the ball was going to land in zero again.  But all of a sudden the ball jumped right out of the wheel onto the floor.

If that zero came in the casino would have lost a few quid, does anyone know if the casino has a way of making the ball jum?  ie an electro-magnet that is turned on that will repel the ball.

     Cheers for your knowledge.

I doubt it was fixed. Casinos dont need to fix anyway as I was reading somewhere that with the probaility and maths of it all the house always win. eg The point of having the zero green is so that the probaility of landing on redblack is never 50-50 as once every 30 goes it lands on the green..and overall you lose your money to casino

I think the only money to be made in Gambling is owning a casino...

LOL This sounds VERY unlikely, but I suppose the odds would say it has to happen in a blue moon. I used to be a croupier: casinos are VERY strictly regulated by The Gaming Board; roulette balls are made of teflon (think frying pans), though, if really noisy, it would be an old ivory one, neither of which are magnetic; roulette wheels just sit on a roulette table and should be moved in rotation to the next table each week; every casino (or the whole company that owned it) would be sh*t-scared of losing its gaming licence, as would any member of gaming staff be of losing their own personal gaming licence.

As I say, odds deem it necessary that what you saw might actually happen - I think the record number of times the same number came in concurrently on the same table whilst I was present was seven, i.e. astronomical - but I'm sure you were watching an old James Bond film.

    Asim:

Indeed - the odds are in their favour.  The only game that can be beaten is blackjack, and even then the time and effort required are so high and the advantage so small you're better off getting a real job.  Plus the casinos will bar you anyway.

But it's still fun to play and come out ahead for an evening's enjoyment  Wink

What actually happens in this case though? Everybody loses, or you get your money back because something outside the bounds of the game happened?
