Hi guys,
I'm brand new to this forum and to forex trading. I hope to learn from future debates, opinions and views. I inadvertantly stumbled on this forum just by researching the name 'Andy X'. I'm very glad I made the effort. You guys are passionate in your discussions and I thoroughly enjoyed this thread and the fiesty debate between the opposing parties. My reason for contributing is that I have a view on Andy X and his course 'The Insider Signal'. I appreciate that some of you might not want to discuss the subject any further, but to add just a little balance to the debate I feel that having used the course since May 2006 I might be able to help other people who might be considering purchasing the course arrive at that decision with an open mind and well informed.
Firstly, don't shoot me, I am inexperienced. I certainly don't profess to being worldly wise in the land of Forex. I have been studying Forex for about two years. I have read, read and read some more until I eventually plucked up the courage to go 'live'. I received a mail shot from Streetwise Publications regarding Andy X and his seductive descriptions of how to raid the money pile etc. I purchased the course on the grounds of the 30 day money back gaurantee. Oh, and with a great desire to learn what this 'secret' was that would enable me to out run you guys.
On receipt of my 10 CD's I was incredibly excited and spent a huge amount of time studying the information. I must say that my previous reading experience and studying of charts and trying desperately to learn what fundamental reports would be relevent to my endeavours did help me to grasp the concepts quicker than I might otherwise have. I would say that I viewed the CD's more than once and even now refer to specific lessons when I feel I am losing focus. However, I was very disappointed not to learn the 'secret' that was allegedly revealed every night/day that would earn me twenty pips and a perpetual income. Guys, there is no secret. The word isn't even used in the actual course, contrary to the introductory paraphernalia. I will also say that it was too time consuming to adequately study the course to a level of full understanding within the 30 day period. I confess that I was tempted on more than one occasion to return the course and reclaim my £2k.
However, I decided that the evening chart updates and the refreshing personal mentoring that Andy provided via both email and phone was too good an opportunity to turn down. I will say that I started with a bank of £8k (about $15). After three and a half months I am running at just about even. The content of the course was good (in my view). I think my lack of success at this stage is down to my own lack of discipline and difficulty in remaining as cold and pragmatic as possible through all stages of the trade. I am confident that I will overcome theses frailties in time. I am heartened that I am not and have not lost my shirt to date.
I think the point was made that the advert for the course was embellished and seductive and that the actual course doesn't live up to the hype. That's very true. I spend nearly eight boring hours a day (when I'm not at work doing my real job) sat in front of my PC just waiting for the 'secret' to reveal itself. When it doesn't I find myself frustrated and rushing to review Andy's evening update to see where I went wrong, or if I overlooked something. I invariably find that Andy will have a support or resistance line in somewhere that I didn't spot, or that there was a currency data release that I wasn't aware of.
Whether the course is worth the money is subjective to the individual. What one gets out of it compared to another and what that person does with the learning is essential and entirely dependent on one's expectations. Personally I find comfort in the access I have to Andy and the continued mentoring, something that other cheaper courses don't offer, unless of course one is paying a hefty monthly subscription fee.
I agree with the view that before a rookie trader purchases the course (as it is expensive) they should invest a lot of time and effort studying the wealth of good information from books, forums and all the free stuff on the net as the course might just be a bit heavy for a total beginner. After your 'apprenticeship' you will be better armed to make your decision. I am sure Andy will be around in the future.
Well I've gone on long enough. I have to leave now to look for the 'secret' again. I might find it, then again don't hold your breath. I'll keep you updated. Any good advice from you guys on my continued development will be greatly appreciated. Cheers HarryVardon.
