Has anyone purchased the Southcourt or Letting 4 Success materials?

I have the southcourt one very informative and a helpline for further questions or clarification,perhaps other piggies in the lettings business will give you advice so long as your not in their area

I notice that the Southcourt package contains telephone support but is twice the price of the other one I mentioned. Do you think that this extra support is needed?

If it was me I would like the advice and support of someone experienced in the field,questions are bound to crop up.

One area to consider is to get a handyman with REASONABLE prices to do the work on managed portfolio's,most agents rip landlords off maybe getting a kickback,manage them as you would manage your own and word will get around.Good luck Zulu

I wouldn't waste your money on Southcourt unless.......................

A: You have actual experience in this field.

B. Check that that Southcourt have not already signed up people in your area.

C. If your area already has a good selection of letting agents........do not waste your time then.

D. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on advertising as you have no shop front.

E. Have also extra money to spend  on insurances and other affiliated  agencies like Narla if you want to have any creditbility........you will also have to pay to the join data  ptotection agency.

F. DO spend money and go on a course that does the legal side of it so you are fully aware of the pitfalls of letting....so put aside money for that..............that is definately worth doing...........reading little bits on it, is nothing like an actual course.

G. Be prepared to do a lot of work for nothing..............because you will.

I have known letting agents who have been in the trade AND STILL  FAILED WITH SOUTHCOURT.

My advice if you have your own properties just  manage your own.

Thanks for the advice. I have decided against the Southcourt course despite reading some good reviews. Today I met with the letting agents behind the Letting 4 Success Course and I was very impressed. It was reassuring to walk into their letting agents office proving that they are in the business themselves and not just a PO Box Number somewhere. I know Southcourt are official as well but they are located too far away for a visit. I was able to talk through the business and the home study course is more than £300 cheaper than Southcourt.

I am currently looking at courses provided by NAEA and ARLA re your advice at point F

In fairness if you look at their websites, you can see why. The Southcourt package includes professional letting agency software and also a nice looking website, whereas the lettingsucess one is just a manual.
