No [N] WIN Property Investment Seminar and Course

For the benefit of the Singing Pig community, feedback about our experience with WIN Property Investments ....

Having recently used an on-line resource to value a property, I received a "unique" and "very limited" invitation to go to a seminar that normally costs £475 free of charge. (I know what you are going to say, but keep reading....) Anyway, the credentials of the company sounded good as they had apparently been awarded the Business Britain award for something or the other to do with their investment advice, so I figured it sounded worth a try.

Due to very heavy traffic, we ended up arriving a few minutes later than planned, but from the moment we arrived it was clear that we were not really there to learn anything, but to be sold something. What they were trying to sell was a 3 day property investment master course at a cost of £3,100. If you did not have the time to go to London or not enough money, you could opt for the 12 DVD set at the bargain price of only £1,970.

The seminar had the odd useful snippet of information and certainly serves to motivate you to do something to get started in property, but to say it was a course that normally cost £475 was a plain and simple LIE. If we had paid £50 pp our group would still have felt ripped off, a fiver would have been a more accurate value. On the basis of the supposed value of the seminar and the value of the information presented, it was clear enough that you would have to be a brave person to trust them with the investment required to go on the actual course.

The presenter was the most annoying person (and this was the opinion of our group and several others) you could ever wish to suffer for 2 hours. It was so obvious that we were only there to be sold to, despite their claims that the course was free because they wanted to generate some word of mouth. Well, they have succeeded there.... Smile

One lady questioned the veracity of some figures they quoted in an example - she should know, she already manages several properties for someone - and the presenter was quick to say how his figures are all from actual examples and asked her to speak to him at the end. He also went on to say that another investor had borrowed >£20,000 on an interest free credit card and only had to pay back £5 per month for 6 months. While £5 may be the minimum you pay back in some cases, I somehow doubt that it would suffice on an amount of that magnitude.

One lady that was in attendance mentioned that it was a very similar format to Inside Track, although WIN gave more information than IT did.

The upshot of it all was that they got to the end of the "seminar" and offered 3 "lucky" people (the 3 fastest to get up...) the opportunity to go to the 3 day course free if they paid for the DVD set @ £1970. Needless to say nobody took them up on their very generous offer.

I would be very interested to hear whether any little piggies have been on this wonderful, all singing and dancing course and what they thought about it. Surely not everybody is as sceptical as the 26 people in attendance.... oh 4 did get up and leave after about an hour, so some were even more sceptical Smile

Re: WIN Property Investment Seminar and Course

This would be WIN as in Darren Winters I believe.

Nice chap, I met him one time about 6 / 7 years ago just as he started the Investment training that he is most known for. He was on an NLP course a friend of mine was running.

Anyways, it wasn't long before I started seeing reports in the paper about him and his investment seminars. All good information, but some of the claims did not seem to hold water. Example, read thousands of books on investing, hours / years on courses, etc. up shot of it was that the journalist worked out that he had been reading since conception.

If the information is sound then great, that is what people want, but make sure that you are 110% credible, otherwise you will be found out and made to look slightly shady at the very least.

Reputation is everything - protect it all costs or you will find short term gain leads to long term pain!!!

As I said nice chap from memory, but some of the marketing is a bit overstretched.

I have very little time for seminars, as they all seem to be opportunities to upsell you to the next level. HOWEVER I will say that I went to Glenn Armstrong Property course in September and together with joining a forum like this and several others came away with enough information to make an informed start in this business. I would also say that property networking clubs are also good to attend for the opportunity to meet and talk to experienced investors.

So that is my bit - hope it wasn't too much to read through

     Have a great one
