    Re: Greatest regrets

    What books?

I have read acouple of Brian Tracy's books and like his pshycology of selling.  I read everything and anything.  There is no one greatest book.  Books are other peoples knowledge or research or opinion in print.  If you want to accelerate your own learning and development you need to use this information.  An example of where my friends would make fun of me would be yesterday I try to take the stabalizers off my sons bike and then I realise I dont know how to teach how to ride.  My friends would hold the seat and run along behind but this really isnt easy for either of us.  3 minutes on the net and $14.95 later I have the definative ebook guide.  Read it in 10 minutes.  We go to a car park tomorrow and see what happens.  My friends would spend ages trying to reinvent the wheel.  Why bother.  Im interested in riding motorbikes with my son.  To get there I need to teach him to ride bicycles.  Short cut via knowledge.

I would suggest to anyone that you look everywhere for information.  I once bought a book and thought how lucky I was to find such a gem.  There really wasnt any luck to it.  If you go in enough bookshops or search the internet you will find gems everywhere.  The unlucky are really lazy.

Why don't you buy an aeroplane Clottie? It should make it much easier.Big Smile You can get your hands on a Spitfire for around £500,000 I'm told. Now there's a real aeroplane ! But you need to weave from side to side when you taxi because you can't see past its huge nose pointing skywards at about 35 degrees.

A terrified shaking woman at Corfu Town airport once asked me why I wasn't scared of flying like she and my wife were. I replied "Well, once the wheels are off the ground, the fella up front can fly the damn thing and I can't, so what's the point of me worrying about it?"Tongue Tied

    Re: Greatest regrets

i fly from Filton and everytime i take off i see Concorde with its weird nose

""But you need to weave from side to side when you taxi because you can't see past its huge nose pointing skywards at about 35 degrees"

the only reason Concorde had a movable nose was so that the pilot could see whilst landing !!!!!

why dont i buy a Spitfire ?   i aint got a half million squid thats why !!!

anyway, i like flying warriors - old reliable work-horses, tried and tested, and they can accommodate a "portly" figure, and are Very forgiving when you fly a bit like a mad bat out of hell now and again !!!    but i did do a "greaser" of a landing yesterday  tho YesGeeked

    Re: Greatest regrets

I've made many, many mistakes but I've not a single regret. You can waste your life regretting things, but learning from your mistakes, and making sure you don't repeat them is the only way you will ever go forward.

My problem is that I've been too trustworthy in the past, and expected people to act with the same integrity and ethics that I have. You quickly learn.

Still, success every time makes you complacent, in my opinion.

i think that is a great asset you have  - trusting folks  - i do that - sometimes too much - but i would rather help someone whose story "seems" a bit odd and be conned than never help anyone ever again  -  I'm sure the same applies to you

It's nice - and very flattering - that you think that, but I'm not on about tenants and landlords, or those who spin you a line so that you feel sorry for them. I'm on about investors in my business, business partners, potential business partners, corporate clients, and people who, in hindsight, have just assumed that they can f*ck me over. Those who promise the earth, basically. And why not - I was young, naive, trusting and had (and still have) good ideas.

Sorry to be so blunt, and sorry to use foul language, but seriously Clottie, I've had it all over the last two or three years. If you want more details, feel free to PM me. Obviously, I'm not going into it on a public forum.

But - as I said before - you live and learn. Bad experiences shouldn't put you off - they should strengthen you. I'm only 32 and I'm convinced that I've made most - not all - of my mistakes in my 20s. I hope my experience will pay dividends in my 30s.

    That struck a chord.

My first business went because I overrelied on a lying git, the second because of a thief, I have been tempted every so often to buy into franchises/agreements and have always been burned. I can't say I don't regret that everything didn't work marvellously, but I now do not joint venture and am completely self reliant, every penny is mine with no short cuts.

Mine and the wifes' that is...
