    who are you "in disguise"?

"buying a single £100k on a UK home (not BTL) is hardly "flirting with disaster".

With such a low downpayment, and miniscule cash reserves it may well be.

Mods, do you condone such dangerous advice here?  I thought that those new to investing could use some advice from others who have lived through downturns before, not just reckless speculators- as Pod seems to be.

bubb, your style is unmistakeable ... hysterical nonsense as usual.  the vast majority of people who buy their first house put down the absolute minimum possible ... have nothing left over, and wing it.  been like that for countless millions of people down through the years.  "reckless speculators"?  do me a favour ... you need to get out more bubba, see the world as it really is.  fat chance!

"the vast majority of people who buy their first house put down the absolute minimum possible ... have nothing left over, and wing it."

That action may be fine in a rising market. It is highly dangerous in a falling market.  And as you know, few banks - if any - are willing to entertain aggressive percentages of advance these days.

Be very careful with this market. Do not encourage people to make reckless speculations !
