Re: Cyprus, social housing investment
Pany, I`m not a vindictive guy, just a deportee from Cyprus along with thousands of others your country rejected, but I really feel the world should know what you guys are up to http://www.opipt.com/cyfraud.htm its nothing personal, understand? if not, let me make it clear, the south have been stealing land from Brit investors for years, here is the proof. Now tell me what you have to say in defense of your counrty`s land developers activities. Lanitis,(Cybarco) Aristos, Leptos etc

Re: Cyprus, social housing investment
Any developers, agents, lawyers or anyone else for that matter breaking the law, need to be dealt with by the law. The RoC is the internationally recognised government of Cyprus, there are courst that these crooks could be taken to. Tell me one country in the world where you don't have these types of people. Oh I forgot, the british MPs upstanding model citizens screwing the british tax payer yes, your very own. Now, What do you have? A pseudo state, no legitimate government, unrecognised worldwide, no direct flights, nothing, zilch. You can't even looby you UK MP on issues over there because, guess what? They don't recognise ya! I never said the leagl south was whiter than white, I said that buying in the northern illegally held army camp was politically and legally unsafe. What part of that did you not understand?? let me know and I'll try and put it in simpler terms. Why were you deported (if I have understood that correctly), were you and illegal? Please explain. You would do well to stay in Portugal, if you want to do Cyprus properties, come south, I have no issues with that, all competition is good for the industry. I welcome it. Good day.

Re: Cyprus, social housing investment
'Beware of Greeks bearing gifts' rang true today when the Cypriot Govt did nothing to help 100,000 people who have bought homes from Cypriot developers who have witheld deeds and subsequently remortgaged the properties. To compound matters, the same developers have collected immovable property tax from unsuspecting owners and not forwarded this on to the tax dept. Furthermore to make matters even worse, they have gone bust and now the banks are knocking on houseowners doors asking for the house back.'Fraud and Deception' are cries from the crowd but the police do nothing, it would appear the developers are in bed with the government. For 29 years the Cypriots have been bellywalling how the north stole their land, well, its seems they play the same game but more subtly.Comments Pany? Read all about it here http://www.opipt.com/Cymortgagescam.htm especially todays update dated 11th June.

Re: Cyprus, social housing investment
Oh well, if I must. Crooks always look for excuses to justify their ill gotten gains. You seem to be doing the same....... of the 100,000 you claim probably 70% are Cypriot themselves, no one is happy with the situation, but legislation takes time to be processed. Like I said before, these things will be dealt with in due course, the government will do the necessary as required. There are no ECJ rulings against the RoC, nor any UN resolutions nor any indictments for war crimes against humanity, unlike some areas illegally held being pursued for. You are obviously sensationalising the problem because you have 'beef' with me, but the situation is not as bad as you make out, you want to sell properties in the north so you have to blacken the south in order to be able to shift your dodgy gear. I understand the tactics, but whichever way you cut it, the south is is the only legally recognised area worldwide, and EU member, and a safe place to be in. Which is a lot less than I can say about the other part under military occupation. I hope you are warning your buyers that the properties you are peddling are subject to repossion and any assets they have EU wide are at risk if they still go ahead with it. I bet you are not even mentioning it, are you? No best keep that quiet, lets just get the sale huh? Well, my original post was to warn unsuspecting investors of the problems, you have chosen to make this personal. No worries, I have an answer to all your questions where the north is concerned because I have justice on my side, you have nothing. Have a nice day len.

Re: Cyprus, social housing investment
To be fair Pany, the corrupt practices of developers & lawyers in the RoC, fully condoned by the government and police, mean many buyers there face repossession. The new legislation, apparently, will only apply to future transactions. Whilst I totally agree that noone should build or market properties on Greek Cypriot owned land in the North, the situation in the South is equally illegal - and contrary to EU law. The RoC will be brought to book, and then the sh one t will really hit the fan. If you want the benefits of EU membership, then you have to play by the rules. (Nothing to do with property, but I'm sure you are aware of the recent case of the female Paphos solicitor jailed for persistent motoring offences, getting a Presidential pardon; that, undfortunately, speaks volumes about the morality in the RoC.)

Re: Cyprus, social housing investment
RogerD, it is good to be brought to book, and I welcome it. My point being, who is going to bring the otherside to book? The sourthern property market is in a state of flux and needs heavy reform, I don't deny this, but the other side is pure criminal and thats the difference. Our laws may not be the best, but we have what we have right now until they are changed by learning, the otherside is pure pseudo and have no laws as all the goods are stolen. How many of the mature EU counttries are still breaking EU laws and fines imposed, it is not unique to Cyprus, but I am not blind to whats going on. Cheers
