Re: Rich Dad Poor Dad 2 hr seminar ...

    Hi Guys,

Just to clarify, this is not Rich Dad course, It is the good old Ross Whitney course stuff in just re-packaged.  I went to the 3 days course for 699 and was quite disappointed really. Not because it was not good value for the money, but I wanted to hear more about the rich Dad philosophy rather than investing Ross Whitney way.

and there were bits I did not agree, like asking how much equity do you have in your property and whoever had more than 500k, jump on him to sign up immedaiately and use an example how multi lillionare he will be soon.

And to teach people to raise 20k credit card debt in  3 days just to tell than the full course is 20k.

anyways, I learnt a lot and I got to know a new market, a market where you can sell packaged deals, or deals I would not touch any more (ie not 20+% bmv)

So, all in all, If you know what you expect, than great, I can recommend it highly, just be sure you are going to a Ross Whitney weekend.

    Cheers

    Bal

I didnt know it was Russ Whitney stuff (the missing 3rd chuckle brother).

I meant to ask who the main speaker was going to be but obviously didn't.  The thing about the Rich Dad stuff is that you need to speak about it with other likeminded people.

We never discuss money in this country, or if we do, its about how much cash you have, how many properties and the like, instead of just helping each other understand varuous concepts.

anyway, if anyone does go on it, then perhaps a posting back on here would be useful for others who may be contemplating it ? The course in Leeds starts on the 11th April (my daughters 3rd birthday bash is on that weekend, so obviously won't be going), although I would have liked to have.

    cheers

Re: Rich Dad Poor Dad 2 hr seminar ...

I went to a Rich Dad 3 day weekend course last year in July in London (it was only £500 then) and the speaker was Gill Fielding (a woman who was on The Secret Millionaire series last year).  In summary, I highly recommend going to it - I learned A LOT of new things, such as how to increase your credit limits, credit rating, goldmine ads, leafletting, how to spot distressed vendors etc.  It is based on a Whitney Course with some Rich Dad tweaks, and they tell you that upfront - but in my opinion, whether it's a Whitney or Rich Dad course, as long as the information helps you, then it's good information.  I have never regretted spending that £500.  The way I looked at it was: I spent thousands going to university, thousands on eating out, thousands on gadgets and cds... what is £500 if it actually means I get something back?

I think, however, the major benefit of going is the amazing motivational effect and the effect on the way you think.  Yes, you learn a lot of new things and yes, you meet lots of other similar minded people - but there is an amazing buzz you get from the class, which really gets your A into G.  Also, because it opens your mind up to thinking of wealth creation all the time, it allows you to spot opportunities when otherwise, you would have just walked on by.  Before I joined the course, I had already bought three positive cashflow properties over 2 years.  However, since going to the course, I've invested in 3 more cashflow positive properties in under a year and have become A LOT more confident about investing (because the course allows you to identify the risks you are taking).

During the course, they also try to sell you (but not a horrible hard sell) to go on further courses for £5k each.  I didn't sign up, but am thinking of doing it in the future, as a further "motivational" treat.  Anyway, I would say "go for it" - I learned a lot from doing it and assuming you're already investing in property, it's tax deductible anyway !

Re: Rich Dad Poor Dad 2 hr seminar ...

My wife and I went to the Brighton intro seminar a couple of months back.  We wanted to meet like-minded folk and we wanted a little refresher on the RD world, but we decided from the start that we didn't want to attend any other courses.  We had much of the knowledge already in books, past seminars and of course on the web.  This 2 hour seminar is a front door to a product that in itself is a door to the more expensive back-end product. I cannot assess the value of these courses, however, knowing one or two of those involved I suspect they are good.

Courses like this are valuable if you need to get priorities straight with regards to how money works, assets vs. liabilities etc. i.e. you need some financial education.  A secondary benefit from a course like this is networking with like-minded folk, however if you work hard you can find this in other ways such as online forums.

Having said all that, just because I am not going on other courses doesn't mean that I have stopped learning, absolutely not!  I'm learning all the time but I'm at a stage where I need to put plenty into practice.

    regards Rhys

Pretty much the same here Rhys.

Went to the initial seminar last week and found it quite a good refresher.

Also the free cd 'worth $39.99' was well worth the visit.

Like minded people? I copped for the local lunatic who followed me and my mate through reception and right to our cars.!!

It is certainly the Russ Whitney courses repackaged into Rich Dad Education UK. It is actually a partnership between the two men, Russ Whitney (RW) and Robert Kiyosaki (RK). Seeing as RW had the headstart in the UK, RK is happy to let him take the lead, and their new partnership is Rich Dad UK Ltd/Rich Dad Education, which started in the UK in May 2007.

If you haven’t been to any of the Whitney UK courses, then you’ll most likely find the new Rich U very informative. But most people who had previously attended the Whitney courses came away rather disappointed especially if they were expecting to learn something new.

Having said that, and in comparison to other seminars around they are focussed on educating the individual in ways that the normal formal education route is lacking in.

But one must always bear in mind that, these courses are first and foremost a business for the people who run them, and as a business they are there primarily to make a profit.

It is amazingly motivational – no doubt about it, and extremely informative for beginners! So long as they are committed to take action afterwards!

The networking is not guaranteed either, as most attendees are at different levels, and you might end up with the local lunatic all the way through reception to your car!!!
