Re: Where to learn about commercial

    Hi,

I think this course has a lot of valuable information - in my opinion well worth the money.  Some people may find certain info as too detailed and not relevant.  A very detailed manual not just bare facts.  A lot of info on setting up and tax issues as well.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Dash

Interested in BMV deals in Greater London especially North West London & Nottingham. Willing to pay a finders fee of 1% - 2%. I also get BMV deals all over the UK - so let me know if interested in getting leads from me - finder's fee payable.

    Hi Pal,

Commercial valuation is relativly easy but the angles to make money are much harder.

You only need two books but you can add one more for reading when you have got a grasp. DO NOT GO ON ANY COURSES it is a different world to residential.

    1. Modern Methods of Valuation - this book is required material for all students of real estate- will teach you everything you need to know about "proper" valuation

     2. Parry's Valuation Tables (13th Edition) this is a book full of tables and charts. It is the bible of valuation It would be impossable to use book 1 or value anything without it.

Both these books are available from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors website. Total cost around £35.00

    Hi,

Thanks for this info.  What is the 3rd book you mentioned out of interest?

I don't think you can do much better than Property and Money by Michael Brett and Income Approach to Property Valuation by Andrew Baum. Both concentrate on commercial property leasehold and freeholds. Excellent stuff.
