hi everyone.. im looking to buy the manual from www.home-credit-business.com has anyone bought it, would really love some feedback before shelling out the £300, and will just buying the manual be enough info to get up and running?

    thanks in advance :)

Buying a manual is a step in the right direction. Whether it is enough on its own would depend on the person who wishes to start in this business. Some people have bought a manual and also visited us to take advantage of our full training package. Part of our training involves taking you out on a round with us to show you how it actually works on the ground. Of course you can also visit us before purchase to get an overview of the business and see if it is appropriate for you. Details at www.briteways.com

How much does the licence cost? I'm thinking about applying for it in the next few weeks.

    Regards,

    Jonathan.

    • sole trader - £380 (includes consumer credit licensing fee of £230 and CCJ levy of £150.00)
    • partnership, company or other organisation - £725.00 (includes consumer credit licensing fee of £575 and CCJ levy of £150.00)

Those are the fees, not too bad but the forms look a bit daunting. We are finding further information to work with people to  help with the application process www.briteways.com

I follow this thread with some interest, may i ask a question thats not intended to be a dig, flame or put-down?

if you offer a "specialist training/consultation package" how can you say the forms "look a bit daunting"? do you not know what they look like?

again, please dont get your back up in defence - i'm merely asking the question!

No offence taken, it is a fair question Smile The OFT have only recently changed the application process to include the need, amongst other things, to provide credit competency reports. Very few people have gone through the process including us. We have been providing our Training/Consultancy program for over 15 years, and our own licence will not expire for another 2 years so we have not been through the new process ourselves. It would be misleading of us to claim that we are certain of the best way to answer the new questions in the revised OFT application process.

    Re: Cash Loan Business Updates

Hi, I have read every post in this thread and have to say it has been very enlightning.

I am looking at starting up this buisiness but want to be sure I have everything in place before hand.

Can you join the CCA before you have applied for your licence?

Has anyone yet tackled the new application forms, and will the OFT just decline without trying to educate you?

I'am update on all the new and old legislations reagarding, pre-contracts, settlement figures, money laundering laws, etc but can I expect the CCA to have ALL information regarding how to run this buisness?

Also, I have been looking at local businesses and at their contracts. I am abit confused as to how much you would charge people for a missed payment. It states in some contracts that the customer will be charged a default rate not exceeding the apr, what does that mean, for example a £500 loan at 50%, TCC £250, TAP £750 over 30 weeks, APR 330%. If they missed a payment, what could you rightfully, fairly, charge them?

Finding this site has been a god send, it seems there is alot of knowlegable people who are willing to help and share ideas, something I've been looking for for awhile.

     Thanks in advance

     Louis
