    scrap metal brokers

    Hi

Anyone know anything about scrap metal brokers? Because of the huge demade of scrap metals from emerging markets, it seems like aprofitable business to go into. However there are not alot of information available on it.

    Anyone know anything?

    Re: scrap metal brokers

    Hi crenest,

I cant answer your post, but hope you dont mind if i add to it.  Over the years I have sold alot of scrap metal, generally I ring a couple of local dealers in the city I am working in to get the best price of the metal I am selling i.e. bright copper wire, copper pipe, house wire, light iron, steel, Ali, lead, etc.  The trouble is in most towns the scrappys are working together to keep the value artifically low.  You always have someone on site who recon they can get more than the scrappy offers.

Does anyone know if there is a website that gives the daily value of each metal??

I have recently sold bright wire for £1700/ton, but chap on site recacons it is now £2500/ton.

Scrap metals is a good business to be in. However, there are lots of people doing it - the list includes, UK's wealthiest man. See link below:

As for up to date market information on prices, one can visit the London Metal Exchange's web site. See link below:

Hope it helps and good luck.
