Wealth & The Property Business for Entrepreneurs
Hi there,
Doing a refurb at the moment, where's the cheapest place to get a kitchen? looked at B&Q and trade depot, both much of a muchness but their quotes are both a grand which is more than I wanted to pay, the kitchen is tiny!

Leighton
Hi
I got my kitchen WITH built in appliances from Wickes. Cost about £800.
Try them.
Regards.
thanks PublicAngel - booked a design appointment with them for next week.
Hi,
Most of the proffesional landlords i know including myself use Howdens you will need to open a trade account but probably the most competative around and all over the uk.
Matt
my builder friend has a howdens account - could be worth a call to him.
with 20/20 hindsight i should have left the originial kitchen in as there wasnt a great deal wrong with it but the property was bought as a BTS and at the time (two months ago) a new kitchen was essential and the market for sales wasnt god-awful like it is now. It looks as if i'm going to be fittin a new kitchen in order to rent it.... bummer....

Definitely Howdens is the one to go for - i don't know any developers that use retail outlets such as b&q or wickes! A clean budget range kitchen of average size should cost about £300 plus labour. An obvious point, but, if you're thinking of renting out don't go for integral appliances......!
I recently got one off ebay for £250. It was 4 years old with all appliances, and when I looked at the paperwork, the seller had paid £10k for it new. It was a bit of a pain picking it up, and I'll probably have to replace some worktop, but well worth the hassle.
Never write off B&Qs. I have trade accounts with Howdens and other local suppliers but theres not too much in it cost wise. + Remember B&Qs will take anything back thats not used or faulty, no problem. open 7-8pm open on sundays and saturday afternoons. Quality it similar to howdens cheap stuff (although the carcuss is made up with Howdens). In my local howdens it always takes twice as long as going to B&Q because they have to go and get the fork lift out to get the stuff or order for the next day. in B&Qs you just pick off the shelf.
Never get them to 'quote you on a kitchen though as it will cost twice as much as they are on commission. I once had to take £500 worth of stuff back because they over ordered on an order worth £1700. The guy still got comm on the £1700 though so he was happy!
