    **where to buy email lists?**

    Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience in finding/buying bulk email addresses for marketing purposes?  I want to target specific groups only, say property investors, investors, etc, etc.

Does anyone know a good source for this?

    Hi Ollie

The short answer is "don't do it"!

Most available lists are pretty much spam or people who've opted in to be paid to read emails.

Because of the spam implications, real list owners are protective of their lists.

Which means you'll either need to create your own or partner with someone who will send an email to their list on your behalf.

You could build your own list in a number of ways - offering a freebie of useful information for instance or a short, cheap report where the list owner gets 80 - 100% of the profit from the sale or even where they just get paid - say - 50p per sign up for a free report.

    Good luck

    Trevor

Thanks Trevor, thats an excellent way forward.

I've read posts on here regarding auto emailing.  Do you think the tools out there, say LiveWire are worth using once a list is generated?  what I'm saying is,

do you think its worth the extra cost to gather the kind of statistics they are offering?

Re: **where to buy email lists?**

    Ollie,

Take note of what Trevor has said here. Be very careful when buying lists. I would never do it myself but as Trevor has also mentioned the best way to build a list "quickly" is to find someone who has a list and the same targeted customers as those you wish to sell to.

Your product needs to be top notch and ready to go whcih should also include a couple of bonus items to increase the percieved value of what you are promoting.

As also said, you will have to give the owner of the list a good 50% of the "profits" but make sure you also capture those names that do visit your site from the promotion/email.

If it's a property poduct there are various people with big lists and don't forget the property clubs. Promote there too.

Trevor, I think you may have to do the speaking on the 26th Big Smile

    Hi Ashley

    I'm camera shy Big Smile

Ollie: not come across LiveWire so no idea on that one. At best with email you're looking at a mail order response rate, so anything approaching 1% is good. Stats/response will depend on who is sending, when they send, what they say, lots of other things.

Reports telling you how many people opened your email are only as good as the email clients people use - mine doesn't report back, for instance. Sales or signups are probably your best stat. Headlines count - think how many emails you get and never read for instance. Put links in whatever report you offer (turn it into a PDF free with Open Office) but send them to or via your site so if a link dies, the ebook/report doesn't.

Of course, if you can sell a physical product then you get the real mailing address - those are very definitely worth getting and are valuable (£100 & up per 1000 for a one-time rental).

One more thing, once you've got a good product, talk to forum owners to see whether they'd be happy to promote it - not just by selling you advertising space but through a commission.

    Hi All,

I used what is called a Squeeze Page - basically a low cost Opt in Page, No website required and very easy to set-up.

You can add your own script, it has a autoresponder, build your own opt in list etc.

    Just go to: http://marketingmakeovergenerator.com/

The company is based in America but you can use it here with no problem.

    Trial period is only $1

If you're after squeeze pages, Robert Puddy has a "free but there's an upsell option or two if you want to take it" squeeze page generator at http://instantsqueezepagegenerator.com/
